Eli Roth Says No To Violence
Gore hound going PG-13 for next film

Eli Roth has become well-known, and heavily criticised in some quarters, for pushing the level of viscera and violence in his films to the very limit. But no more, apparently.

The Hostel director has stated that his next film will be PG-13 rated and, y'know, for kids. He says that he's almost complete on the script for a new "big-budget, PG-13, mass-destruction movie" inspired by the success of Cloverfield and Transformers.

"I feel like I pushed the violence in R movies about as far as I can push it. I feel like I'm bled out. I wanna switch it up," he stated, adding that then new film will be "total chaos and pandemonium".

No more details are available at present, but Roth says there will be an announcement next month.

If you don't like his horror, maybe you'll like what he does next. Maybe, just maybe, people should, y'know, actually watch a film before they decide if its gonna be crap. I'm a bit old fashioned I know. More

I wish....
...Empire would use a different stock picture of him. I find the current one most irritating, So it seems Roth will be doing a Rodriguez and making kids films. Tosser. More

Pity, because on the strength of his Thanksgiving trailer alone it looked as if he just might, after going back to film school and learning such obscure machinations as 'characterisation', 'plot' and 'dialogue', one day actually succeed in making a half decent hardcore horror film. Then again, he'll probably just end up spewing out Hostel 3 instead More

Is this guy ever going to stop copy whatever is popular. "OH, them Grindhouse trailers were so good so I'm going to make a full movie of them" NO-ONE WANTS TO SEE THAT. "Oh Cloverfield sold shitloads, so I'm going to make one of them". YOU'RE SHIT AT LIFE, STOP MAKING FILMS More

Gore is the only thing he knows how to do....
....he sure as hell can't write, and he's not too big on meaningful plot, so really, all his films have going for them is the "buckets o' blood" factor, which doesn't make them very interesting to watch. Doesn't make much sense for him to be reaching beyond his grasp. Stick to what you're mediocre at Eli. More

RE: Eli Roth Says No To Violence
I would like to see his next film.... Eli Roth has generated great curiosity among my friends and I when it came to his horrors.... which is amazing because we aren't big fans of the genre but to see him go Meglomaniac it'll be pretty cool. More

I hope not !!
I thought his next film was going to be Stephen King's Cell - I really hope thats not going to be a PG-13 !! More

Why so cynical?
If Sam Raimi can get from Evil Dead to Spider-Man, and Robert Rodriguez can make Spy Kids after From Dusk Til Dawn, why can't Eli Roth do something similar? Could be great fun. More
