TDK gave us a brilliant trailer fairly early when you compare to a lot of other big films, take Indy for example, although the trailer is good, the first part is clips from the first 3 films! Not exactly meaty. Im still loving the TDK trailer, hopefully the 2nd one wont ruin that, or tread old ground otherwise ill be sticking to this one.

RE: A New Dark Knight Viral Campaign Begins
I'm aware that Halo and Batman are different brands - explain to me how their aims are different though? I thought their mutual aim was to sell as much of their product as possible (copies/cinema tickets). Maybe I'm missing something.
Also, your argument is now veering into a complaint about the lack of information about the film proper which A: shouldn't be the case anyway (why would you wanna know massive plot points before you get in the theatre?) and B: isn't true, there've been many, More

RE: A New Dark Knight Viral Campaign Begins
You can't compare Halo 2 and TDK.
They are different brands with differing aims.
If the execs are simply looking for a big opening weekend ala Halo 2 then you are right. If they are looking to reaffirm and reward brand loyalty (which is what they should be doing just as EON do with Bond) than they are doing an appalling job. It goes right back to the start of filiming with a few months of appalling photos which showed nothing at all. And then a drip drip release of 'iconic' images w More

RE: A New Dark Knight Viral Campaign Begins
I'm sorry, I just don't see how this is at the expense of other forms of advertising. The film is almost three months away and already, as far as 'regular' advertising goes, we've had two trailers (with a third one imminent), an IMAX prologue and at least four posters. That's about right for a film of this size that's got a while to go before release. Ergo, I'd consider any marketing on top of that to be surplus to standard - the fact that that extra marketing only appeals to the films die-hard More

Its annoying.
I have no problem with it existing, but they need to differentiate for their fan base.
The film has been locked and loaded for a while now, and all we have is one (admittedly brilliant) trailer. WTF?
Viral campaigns are fine, BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHER FORMS of advertizing.
The Casino Royale trailers were released gradually, in a timely consistent fashion which gave us more and more to look forward to. TDK campaign is only pissing me (and a few others) More

Yeah, it's empire@emap.com - I know that works too, cos a couple years back they wrote this big feature on Top 100 films or something and they mentioned that someone in the office could argue that Blade was as influential as The Matrix, and I challenged them to do just that. They printed the email, but (I think it was Chris Hewitt) copped out of actually presenting the argument (even though I kind of agree with him, I just wanted to see what someone else had to say about it). This is actually (surprisingly) starting to put me off the film. I now want to see Indiana Jones and Iron Man Waaaaaaay more than this and it is due to the tedious boredom caused by the 'viral' marketing. Bit smug and pretentious for my taste.
