Sometimes it takes the trades a long while to catch up with the movie gossip mill. Despite the project appearing on a leaked memo way back before the strike happened and every studio was trying to get every movie they possibly could into production, Variety has just confirmed that Wolfgang Petersen will be directing Uprising. The director, a man whose never encountered a canvas he considered too broad, will take on the thriller about a group of citizens of Earth who band together to fight off an invading alien race. Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher are writing the script.

Invasion movies are cool
Wolfgang petersen makes huge and interesting films, I even liked Poseidon (at least enough to buy the dvd).
