I think that says more about you, Makman, than Ben's acting that you couldn't take him seriously because of his high-profile relationship. I always try and view personal and professional life separately and i'm a girl!
I for one am glad to see him on form in Hollywoodland and his career obviously hasn't gone anywhere judging by the posts here and positive reviews of his directorial debut. More

I hear nothing but good things about Gone Baby Gone so I look forward to seeing it. Ben seems to be coming back which is great as he got lost during the Bennifer/Gigli furore and he made that superb George Reeves biopic.What would be great was if he teamed up with Matt Damon and co-wrote a script with Damon starring and Affleck directing. After the Bennifer Lopez affair - most studios have avoided casting Ben Affleck (to think he was once an A List star!). I'm not surprise that he is trying to develop a directing career.
I couldn't take him seriously in Smoking Aces - cos of the baggage he brought to the role (I was giggling at him for All the Wrong reasons). More

so its supposed to be getting a UK release soon? Good, yes i could get the region 1 dvd but it isn't the same as seeing it on the big screen.
I do think its bloody stupid though, a girl dissapears and we can't see the film? WHy it happens all the bloody time. There's a war in Iraq, so why are there so many iraq themed movies at the moment? A couple of responses to posts above:
UK/Ireland release date is now set for 6th June 2008 (although that's no doubt still subject to change)
Affleck didn't pull the release, Buena Vista International did, but Affleck has said he supports and understands the decision. The poor lad hasn't really got much choice, does he?
Weird that this news broke today - I've just finished previewing Gone Baby Gone myself!

I've seen gone, baby gone and have to say that it is one of the best films of the year. Casey Affleck's performance is nothing short of revelatory. If you thought he was good in Jesse James then check this out when and (if) it's ever released. Also stop having a go at the McCanns, I have nothing but sympathy for them. I had to stop for a second there until I spotted its the crime novel by Marcus Sakey as opposed to the simply superb fantasy novel by Joe Abercrombie. Good luck to him but if it had been abercrombies , one of the grittiest, nastiest fantasy worlds of recent times getting the Affleck treatment ... well it isn't so thats fine. But the Bloody-Nine deserves on screen treatment. More
