More Mummy Movies Coming
Bello confirms there will be sequels

Universal would probably prefer that Maria Bello hold off on talk of more films in the Mummy franchise until after the latest comes out, but the actress told MTV that there will be at least one more undead foe to be fought after The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

"I don't know when, but it's going," said the actress who replaces Rachel Weisz as Evelyn O'Connell and is signed for three more, if Universal chooses to make them. "[There will] absolutely be The Mummy 4".

We'd expect this to be dependent on the box office success of the latest movie, directed by Rob Cohen. But others on set, when we visited last year, were making indications that there could be further adventures after the third movie, which is going for quite a different direction than the previous films. Brendan Fraser suggested that there might be a set up to another sequel in another country.

Why not
the 1st one was def the best, an enjoyable ride all the way. Sure, the 2nd movie of any title always have a hard time to live up to the 1st one but it didn't disappoint. Now we have the 3rd one and lets see how this goes. Why not 4th, 5th ...if fans like it..make more of it. U don't just watch Friends or CSI episode 1 and said, ok,,that's it for me..do-ya.uh do-ya? Please dear God no more!!!!
I am a huge fan of the first back in 1999. Great characters, fun script and action. The second was dreadful! Awful CG. Im also huge fan of Rachel Weisz, and as much as i admire Maria Bello (she's a great professional actress!) Im not sure how she can replace rachel's evie. I dont see why we need a Mummy 3, let alone a Mummy 4!!!!!! More

Mums the word
WE don't need 3 more crap films, but hey we might get 3 more good ones - who can predict? Again its about quality. We are going to get a load of new original films that are bad, lets ignore the dross sequels like we do those duff new films. We don't expand our minds by going to see a film that we know is going to be bad and then pontificate about getting robbed!Lets not say 'thats 90 mins i will never get back' any more as we get none of it back! Lets make better choices. As Jed bartlett would s More

Mums the word
I think what people are really talking about here is quality, not that there's going to be another mummy movie. I say give these new kids a chance to play with the toys - they might do good! Are Empire bloggers so blinkered? More

Oh Dear God!
Can't this be the last?! There is no more to do with it, if they make more they will spoil it! I mean, I'm too keen on this one because not all of the orignal cast are back and I'm not too sure about Maria Bello being Rachel Weiz's Evie. Then again, I don't know. I have to find out and see but I'm not 100 per cent along with it. More

Do we really need another franchise?
Why does everything turn into a 'franchise' these days? Can't we just have the one good film and leave it at that. The first two films were fine, although the second less impressive than the first. Just leave it be! More

RE: ...sure...
The first film was brilliantly enjoyable, the second was weighed down with expectation that marred it a little (they re-used many of the same gags and tricks) but was also okay in terms of fun and entertainment (until of course, ] ending CG monstrosity).  The future of this franchise obviously rides on the third film, and if it is taking a different approach to proceedings than the first films, I think it is best to wait and see what the Dragon Emperor fore really delving into too much di More

L: IMac ...imo the films are good enough to keep going...theyre great to watch on a saturday or sunday at home - cheesy, but its good tele!...therefore, yea why not!... sp; WHislt i agree that these are generally great saturday afternoon cheese fests i think three should be the last before it they make a film so bad that it detracts from the originals. Wot No Rachel Weisz....
The producers/writers should have just written the character Evelyn out of the Mummy 3 (kind of like Die Hard 3 & 4). It will be strange seeing another actress pretending to be Evelyn (unless they say she has had radical plastic surgery ...which I doubt!). Or they should of paid Rachel lots of money to simply make a cameo appearance. More
