Exclusive: New Incredible Hulk Pics
Edward Norton is not happy

With a new trailer imminent and the actual movie less than four months away, Universal has provided us with two exclusive new shots from The Incredible Hulk, which both appear in the new issue of Empire, on sale from Friday. You can click the images below for a closer look.

The first image shows Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, on the verge of some major hulking out. The second gives the first look at William Hurt as General Ross.

We also spoke to the director Louis Letterier, who filled us in on what to expect from the return of the big green meanie.

"We didn't want to make a cerebral movie," he says of comparisons to Ang Lee's earlier film. "We wanted full action, Hulk smashing stuff up. But Edward Norton's script has given Bruce's story real gravitas – Marvel has always made their superhero movies with great actors to make it tangible and Ed has nailed it here. Admittedly, I'm not the most adult director, but just because we're making a superhero movie, it doesn't just have to appeal to 13-year-old boys. Edward and I both see superheroes as the new Greek gods, so there's a classical undercurrent to Bruce's psycho-drama. It's Prometheus, Pandora's Box, Hercules...but with explosions!" That's what we always felt was missing in the Greek myths.

For much more on The Incredible Hulk, including Letterier on The Abomination, pick up the next issue of Empire this Friday. Click the cover below to preview the rest of the exciting new issue.

Finally this picture has an explanation as to why BRUCE Banner's pants actually fit the Hulk. They're fucking huge! This movie should be great if its made like comic movies should be, just badass action and because its the Hulk, loads of things getting destroyed. That's what the public wants so give it to them! Ang Lee's movie wasn't bad, but it wasn't what comic book lovers wanted. No more luvvy dubby nonsense! Ang Lee! You are not welcome here! Bring on the noise! More

UM, ACTUALLY........
The most grown up comic book movie has to be Unbreakable, which is by some degree M.Night Shamalan's best movie and perhaps the only one which demanded a sequel. If you haven't seen it shame on you, if you have seen it and don't agree, well then you're wrong. More

Ang Lee did a good job...
...I likedthe last Hulk film. it was the most grown up a comic book film is ever likely to get and still be a comic book film. This new one looks promising though, more Hulk action backed up by (hopefull) a decent story should be SMASHING (arf arf. ahem, sorry). More

Hulk
Am I the only one who actually really loved Ang Lee's Hulk movie. I thought it was a relly beautiful film with a cracking cast. I loved the scenes where the Hulk starts to calm down and notices small things like the algee and a withered desert plant, it goes quiet, his breathing calms and BOOM. A rocket explodes next to him. Great stuff. That movie was all about anger. As someone with a terrible unrational violent temper (im Welsh) i can really understand that film. More

RE: Exclusive: New Incredible Hulk Pics
I'm loving the Greek Gods analogy,...sounds great if that is truly what their trying to acheive with this. I really liked Ang Lee's version though,...i thought the direction was superb and the action was awesome. My only crtitisism was with the casting. Louis Letterier's version seems to have been perfectly cast, and we know he can do action, i'm just a bit worried about the direction, .....although saying that,...if Norton's got anything to say about it (which he undoubtedly has) we& More

I can see the head, just one more push.....
It does look cool, a bit of a difference from the "Ed in a vest" pic from a few months ago, but I guess he'll poilish himself up thoughout the film. And are those the infinitely stretchable Hulk-pants (TM) he's wearing? I'm looking forward to a trailer for this. As for Ed looking too weedy for this, check out the Ultimate Avengers cartoon, Banner's supposed to look like a wuss. Also, I wouldn't have recognised Hurt in that pic, nice job. More

RE: A bit weEDy looking
L: willhanlan Don't get me wrong, Ed Norton is an awesome actor and i was excited to hear he was going to be the Hulk! But there's something about this new shot i don't like, he looks too...weedy. I know Bruce Banner is a scientist but in the cartoons he was a pretty buff scientist. This pic of Ed is how i would imagine McLovin looking if he went Hulk, anyone agree? sp; Well Bill Bixby was hardly ripped was he? And Norton looks a more believable scientist compared to the bigger buff More

Looks Good!
Looks interesting. I'm not a big fan of the Hulk but am a big fan of Ed Norton, and the fact he wrote the screenplay makes it doubly (is that a word?) interesting. On another note, anyone notice the sentence at the bottom of Hurt's picture? Paris Hilton's latest movie averages four people per screen in the U.S? Hoorah!! Hopefully she will bugger off now!! More
