RE: The Downfall Of HD-DVD
HD-DVD may be in trouble but its worth bearing in mind that if you are in the market for a HD player now (rather than in a year or two) their players are much cheaper for the same, or better performance.   They have announced today further cuts in their UK prices   NEWS: Toshiba confirms UK price cuts for HD DVD players Fri, Jan 18 2008 Following US price cuts earlier this week, Toshiba has confirmed price drops for its UK line-up of HD DVD players. RE: Ho Ho Ho
Some of these are always funny, love 'em! It's a trend that's been around for a few years now... take a scene from any foreign language film, and alter the subtitles to correspond to current events or the topic you are trying to highlight / take the piss out of.   Find the right clip and word the titles correctly like this one has,  where expressions and intensity of dialogue raise just i] and it's comedy gold. Best one ever was one taking the mickey out of Blizzard dev... Read More

RE: It all seems like a rip-off
L: boredbluekoala Having seen the demo's at my local retailer of both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray on their very best displays, I'd have too say that the quality aint all that. I've still got my old CRT big screen tv, and when I stick on a dvd the quality to my eyes seems flawless, needle sharp images, bright colours and excellent sound. By contrast , even the most expensive (and we're talking £5000) flat screen tv's that I saw suffered from ropey sound, bad pixilated images and horrible motion blur... Read More
