More Terminator 4 News...

Our aul' mucker Devin at CHUD.com has uncovered a few tidbits about the upcoming Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (otherwise known as T4 to you and me but not to be confused with that show). And the big news is that they may have hired a big star for a very small role (minor spoilers follow).

It seems that John Connor, aka Christian Bale, has hardly any role at all in the film, taking a bigger part in the second of three planned films (oh god, a trilogy). The lead character is the yet-to-be-cast Marcus, a Riddick-like figure who was "put out of commission" before T3's holocaust and awakens in about 2015 to discover a radiation-ravaged, machine-ridden world. There he meets Connor and learns about his attempts to build a utopian human society as well as running the human resistance.

There's also a female pilot called Blair, holding the ladies' end up, and a cameo from Reese alongside John Connor, and a whole heap of action. More essentially, there's a whole heap of big machine vs. human action.

For more on all of this, and one very intriguing but possibly totally spoilerific hint at the plot, head on over to CHUD and read all about it. Exciting stuff, eh? Or nay?

T3 WAS DEFINITELY NOT FINE, IT WAS AWFUL. THE STORY FOR THIS SEEMS LIKE IT COULD BE REALLY GOOD BUT HOLD ON...MCG IS DIRECTING!? SWEET LORD, JUST WHEN I THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO GO BACK IN THE WATER... ... Read More

RE: RE:
L: fireboy T3 was not fine. It was a major travesty, being dull and bland, with a pedestrian script concerned primarily with setting up below par action sequences. There's nothing wrong and everything right with being different in sequels, it's kind of what raises them. McG has an obviously bad track record, Cameron had an obviously good one with Terminator and Aliens. Edit - Oh before torwell that can only be Cameron's clarity of vision, as shown by his subsequent fi... Read More

shocking
this movie either could shock every one and be kinda good or absalutly shite, and i think its ganna be absalutly shite to be honest, but the only hope this movie might be good is that bale is in the movie, but even so that maynot be enought, this is somthing camron should have done or at least been involved some how,. but surely they could have gotten somone better to direct. Bay would have been good. but he cant Bcos of FORMERS 2, witch i would rather see him do over T4 any day, ... Read More

I think the saddest thing about this whole sorry mess (McG etc) is that we will all go see it, just to confirm our worst suspicions which will convince the studio its popular, hence greenlighting the inevitable sequels. Its a vicious cycle.... ... Read More

RE: More Terminator 4 News...
I wholeheartedly agree with you...  The problem is, studios would never let a little thing like our actually enjoying the movie get in the way of making a few extra million.  McG has been probably been hired because he's cheap.  They're almost guaranteed to make the same money they made from T3.  The sad fact of the matter is that we're not dealing with filmmakers here: we're dealing with bean-counters. ... Read More

High hopes for the TV series
That's if it doesn't get cancelled after series 1. I don't hold out much hope that McG(it) can resurrect the franchise from the ashes of T3. It's just going to be a load of CGI wankfodder with no attempt at coherent plot or characterisation. And, I know that you can't expect high art from a movie about robots and humans fighting. But I for one am getting a little tired of films that sell themselves solely on how much time / money they spent on computer rendering. ... Read More

RE: Leave us all alone...
I honestly thought the best thing for the Terminator series after 3 would be a Stargate type TV show showing the rise of John Conner from skaghead loafer to commander in chief of humanity. They could have creamed loads of series out of it, all the way from 2003 to 2030. There's nothing left for it film wise - bring it to the telly! This should be on Channel Five not the Odeon.   Just make sure it's better than Robocop TV... ... Read More

Leave us all alone...
As far as I am concerned Terminator ended and finished at the end of Terminator 2 - why people are talking about a number 4 I have no idea??? Surely a number 3 should have been made and I dont remember this, it was supposed to come out the same time as some piece of shit called Rise Of The Machines - but it never made it to the cinemas obciously - oh well life goes on... dum dum dum (walks down the street with hands on ears - humming) ... Read More
