Andy Serkis To Star In Tintin
First cast for Spielberg/Jackson trilogy

Andy Serkis To Star In Tintin
Science has proven, using lots of Greek letters and a graph that employs the seldom seen Z-axis, that if Peter Jackson makes an action-adventure movie without the marvellous Andy Serkis, dogs will lie down with cats and bring about the end of civilization as we know it. So, thank the lord that the sometime Gollum/Kong has become the first cast member of the upcoming Tintin trilogy.

There has been no announcement on which part (or, indeed, parts) Serkis might play in the motion-captured movies, but we'd hope that he'll get to play a human this time, even if it is a computer representation of one. That said, we're sure he'd make a marvellous Snowy.

Steven Spielberg and Jackson will each direct at least one installment of the trilogy based on Herge's crime-solving junior reporter and his little white dog, with either another director making the third or the pair possibly directing together.

The all CG 3D first movie is set to start filming in September 2008.

RE: CGI King
Was hoping this would be live action. I'm not a huge fan of the motion capped performance films. But Andy Serkis is always a highlight in a film and with 1 film being directed by Spielberg and one by Jackson hopefully this will be good.   btw what's the release plan for these films? Is it 1 every year like LOTR? ... Read More

L: Timon I bet he's Captain Haddock. Surely Spielberg will get his old pal Robert Zemeckis to do the third part. He loves this whole motion capture malarky and arguably has more experience with it then both Jackson and Spielberg. sp; I agree with you that he seems extremely likely based on his commitment to performance capture, but I don't know why they wouldn't have announced it already if it was. Presumably they want a big name who's a Tintin fan and Zemeckis doesn't seem the ty... Read More
