Watch The Opening Scene Of I Am Legend Will Smith and his dog go ahuntin' Source: Yahoo
Seriously, when did all movies decide to start putting their opening moments on the internet. That's not a complaint at all, since it gives everyone an impression of the final product better than a trailer, but it's become an epidemic this week.
I Am Legend is the latest film to join the party with the three minute clip on Yahoo, here. We love this little sequence and these scenes in the movie of just Smith and his canine buddy (who feels like a proper character in the film) are easily the strongest elements.
You can see the rest of Francis Lawrence's thriller about a man who's the only survivor in a world where a virus has turned people into vampiric ghouls on Boxing Day.
I quite like the five minute previews online idea - trailers are cool and I love them and everything, but these clips (as someone already said) give you a better idea of the actual tone of the film, in this case it makes it obvious that the film isn't gonna be Independence Day 2: Will Vs. The Vampires, instead it's gonna be more Cast Away 2: Will Vs. The Vampires.
Having said that though, I've already been bit in the ass by one of these previews - if it wasn't for that awesome Human Torch/Sil... Read More

I kind of agree with "the ageless stranger", although I suppose showing a few minutes kind of works when THEY need to convince the market that the film isn't as ropey as the last as with AVP2. The first was passable by my standards but that really does look like proper fun. Those five mins did the trick. ... Read More
Never said I was being forced to watch them Holsy, so ease up on the indignant little exclamation points. I'm just making a point that I don't think this is a good way to market a film. The trailers for these upcoming bigscale flicks have been tantalising enough, to me anyway. And I think it takes something away from the film when you can see small 5-minute pieces of it beforehand, removed from the whole. ... Read More
To be fair mate, no one is actually asking you to watch them!!! They are just there if anyone wants them. Im with Empire on this recent trend. Its a better way to get a feel for how the movie plays out and in turn weither it will interest you or not. ... Read More
....a trailer is one thing, but why are all these films now putting full scenes up on the web? I don't want to sit down in the cinema, have the film start and then have to wait five minutes to see something new because I've already watched the opening scene on the net a week earlier. Personally, I think the films that are doing this, like I Am Legend, Dark Knight, Cloverfield, already have good marketing campaigns, but I don't think it's a good idea to show a scene from the film out of context. ... Saw this film last week. Although I loved it, it is spoiled by some very dodgy CGI. The scenes with Smith and his dog alone in the city are as good as anything Ive seen in a film this year, but some of the special effects, especially the vampires, are very shoddy. It looks like it was released with only half finished effects. Worth watching but could have been so much better ... Read More
