New Spiderwick Chronicles Poster Online
Those lovely chaps over at Comingsoon.net have unveiled the brand-new poster for The Spiderwick Chronicles, Mark Waters’ fantasy film starring our very own national treasure, Freddie Highmore, in dual roles.

And, given that our excitement levels for this movie have veered somewhere between ‘meh’ and a barely imperceptible shrug of the shoulders, this is actually pretty good.

We like the jagged ‘beware’ at the top, suggesting that this is a darker proposition than the raft of Harry Potter wannabes that are out there, along with the glimpse of Gremlins-esque goblins at the bottom. These goblins are the residents of the Spiderwick estate, an old house which becomes the home for Highmore (as Jared and Simon Grace) and, as the tagline suggests, their world blends with the real world which spells trouble for our heroes.

OK, so it’s not the greatest poster ever, and we’re still not exactly bursting to get down the cinema and start queuing, but there is fresh hope that this can stand out in the currently overcrowded kiddie movie market.
