Witherspoon, Rogen In Monsters vs Aliens
Voice cast and first pic of 3D animation

11 March 2008  |  Written by Olly Richards  |  Source: USA Today

Dreamworks upcoming animated movie really had us with the title Monsters Vs Aliens, but they've categorically secured our patronage with the finest comedy cast we've heard in some time.

The movie, which will be Dreamworks' first foray into the 3D realm, tells of aliens invading Earth and being fought off by a group of monstrous freaks who have been held in America in Area 52 (geddit). USA Today has the first image from the film here and some details on casting.

Reese Witherspoon will play Susan, the 10,000lb woman; Hugh Laurie is Doctor Cockroach; Seth Rogen is B.O.B. the Blob; Keifer Sutherland voices General W.R. Monger; Steven Colbert is the US President; Will Arnett is also cast as half-ape/half-fish Missing Link.

Seriously, we want to see this now. Those are some awesome names and this movie sounds like being the best of 1950s B-movies combined with the best in modern animation techniques. Monsters or aliens and we're in. Pit them against each other and, well, these pants are going to have to be thrown out.

Your Comments

It is Dreamworks whough, with the exception of the first Shrek, how many of their movis have had decent scripts? Not many, they tend to rely on big names to pull in receipts - see Shark Tale, Madagascar and Over the Hedge for proof. On second thoughts don;t I've wasted my life watching them so you don't have to waste yours! More

colbert and bauer?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm....that actually is quite good. but, dreamworks animations almost always come in as poor relations to pixar, so this may well fail to live up to the promise. but it would be a shame to waste that cast... More
