Well, as you may have guessed from that headline, there's not a whole lot going on this morning, with America still recovering from post-Turkey Day indigestion until later on. But, Jet Li is set to receive the highest ever salary for a Chinese language film. So yay for him.
The diminutive action star will receive 100 million yuan ($13 million) for The Warlords. That's nearly a third of the movie's total budget of $40 million. The Warlords is a war epic based, according to Wikipedia our advanced knowledge of Chinese history, on the Qing Dynasty. It tells a story of a battle between three brothers (Li, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Andy Lau) who fall out over their mutual love of a beautiful woman (Xu Jinglei).
Li's salary beats his own record of 70 million yuan which he set with Hero. | | Olly Richards |
