The New Cloverfield Trailer
Here be monsters!

19 November 2007  |  Written by Olly Richards

submit to reddit

It's been a long time coming, but we now bring you the second trailer for Cloverfield, the none more top secret monster movie, directed by Matt Reeves and produced by JJ Abrams.

Was the wait worth it? We think so. We get a much stronger sense of the story – monsters attack New York and knock most of it over – and a proper look at how the handheld style will work while still retaining the big bang blockbuster quality, i.e. brilliantly.

Watch the trailer below and, for a detailed breakdown of everything within click here.

So, what do you think?

RE: Cool
ntriguing. Not totally sold on the concept as I can't really see what's different about it to the millions of other monster movies. It would be interesting if they never showed the monster in the film, just glimpses from the POV of the characters, which would be a lot scarier. More

Liberty Statues FACE
head thing. it falls differently to the previously shown trialers, the lampost didnt fall like that before. I really hope its not godzilla, and if its like a lizard of some sort it wont be anything like what weve seen before will it? maybe its a dragon anyhow. More

So.......
.....what's with pixelated head guy? And why is the 2 bigger than the other numbers on the date? We need closure. The only thing I'm certain of is that the writing on the wall says "Tetleys".....only joking, it looks more like "Text". Hmmmmm. More

Posted by Hol5x at 16:22 on 19 November 2007 | Report This Post

Not very surprising....
The trailer looks amazing, and I think handheld cameras will work well but I'm really disappointed that it looks like a straightforward monster movie, Where's the new angle, JJ? It does just look like Godzilla, the next generation. More

At one point a soldiers face is pixellated. What's THAT all about? More

RE:
Jesus that looks awful! Lots of bad acting scream at cameras and reacting in like a dead real way, yeh?   More Blair Witch than Godzilla and not remotely in a good way. More

RE: well ain't that the mothor focker!
looks good. can say if this turns out to be shit rather than "the shit" i'll be very dissapointed. I do hope as others have stated that   a: we get to see plenty of monster (although how long did it take to find out what that shit was in lost) b: there isn't just 90 - 120 mins of camera shaking.   all in all though it looks very promising. My advice?
DON'T show the viewer the monster. At all. More

It could STILL be Godzilla - cleverly making the name secret then announcing another red-herring name (or even dropping Godzilla from the title) after the poor 90s version. More

Er.........still aint buying into it BUT Ihope it is a good old monster rampage movie. I was let down with the Host becuase of the 'messages' of the story. Here's hopeing this play's out more like Jaws/Gozilla only done well in regards to the latter. Trailer stil shows nadda monster wise. They are div's because some moron will just leak it to the net anyway before the film is out. Should have had the reveal in the trailer. More

Wetting the appetite..........
The little information coupled with the short bursts of documentary style action makes this look like a winner that War of the Worlds never was. Lets just hope it lives up to the hype and hope! More

Well, it looks rather spectacular, but after some people complained about Paul Greengrass' camera style I wonder if this might not cause a few literal headaches. Call me old-fashioned, but 90 of this would be a bit much for my taste. More

Still exciting
Really intriguing idea, the Blair Witch Camera approach but done with a blockbuster style. Can't wait. Does look promising, but will it be a case of hardly seeing any monsters in the whole film? Like one of the actresses in it said in an interview, it'll either be awesome, or really bad. More
