New Golden Compass Character Banners
Here be daemons

07 November 2007  |  Written by Olly Richards

A whole bunch of new character banners for The Golden Compass have hit the web. Click the images below to embiggen each in turn. Not only do these look pretty damn nice and give the best full length character shots we've yet seen, but they also give a first proper look at all the daemons (those are animal soulmates to the un-Dark Materialistically educated).

We see that Lee Scoresby's (Sam Elliott) little hare buddy Hester (voiced by Kathy Bates) is pretty bedraggled looking and akin to one of those sycamore helicopter seeds, but with eyes. Serrafina Pekkala (Eva Green) for some reason doesn't have one, even though she possesses one in the book, albeit a goose who can fly far from her side.

We also get our first peek at secondary characters and Gyptian bigwigs Ma Costa and Farder Coram.

As I was saying...
That was weird, it posted before I actually said anything, ANYWAY. I agree with John Firth. Eva Green looks far too yummy for a kid's film, especially in that poster. In any case, I've found a new poster for my wall... More

Golden Compass Character Posters
Gosh! It's a bit late to be releasing these now with the release date only a month away. These posters should have hit the web months ago. Also as nice as they are in showing us the characters and their demons some of them (particularly Mrs Coulter's) look rather cheapy or it could just be the quality. Either way they are still fairly good and I'm looking forward to the movie. Of course the reviews will tell us everything in wether or not it's the fantasy we've been waiting for. Still, I'll rema More
