Tom Cruise Denies Star Trek Cameo
He's not playing Christopher Pike

Tom Cruise Denies Star Trek Cameo
It's a little odd to be reporting people not appearing in films, because it really could go on forever, but we did it with Scorsese and Righteous Kill yesterday and we'll do it again, goddammit! We'll prefer to think of it as rumour killing.

At last night's Lions For Lambs premiere at the Times BFI London Film Festival, we asked Cruise if the internet rumours that he'll be cameoing as first Enterprise captain Christopher Pike in JJ Abrams Star Trek were true. To which he peered bemusedly from beneath his back-to-school haircut. "What? No, I'm not in that," he said. We had to explain to him that the internets were saying he was going to appear. "Nope. It's just rumour".

So, now that all the main cast of the movie are cast, this gives us an opportunity for all new rumour discussion – deep joy! So, who should play the first to head to the final frontier? The Shat?! Alec Baldwin (Just cos he's awesome)?! This spoon with a bit of cereal stuck to it?! We just don't know! Too much caffeine!

pretty bloody unlikely
paramount makes star trek, paramount 'fired' cruise last year for being a little too human(and for getting WAY too much of the profits from the movies he made for them)So, too cover ground we've already spoken of, there is no way in hell he will be appearing in a paramount release no matter how chummy he is with JJ Abrams (the director of the new trek movie ) ... Read More

Still reckon he'll play Pike.
Not this first time this denial thing has sounded like bollocks. Tom Hanks denied he was in The Da Vinci Code on Richard & Judy a month before filming began. Probably legal wrangles. Same thing here I reckon. ... Read More

How about....
Ben Affleck? I'm serious. His career is back up after Hollywoodland and Gone Baby Gone, he's got the chin and he's really not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. He also looks a bit like Jeffery Hunter. ... Read More

I always thought Ray Liotta would have made a good Pike, but he's way too old now (no offence, Ray). When Chris Pine was first rumoured to be playing Kirk, I was almost sure he'd end up playing Pike, what with him looking a hell of a lot like the guy and having a spookily similar name. Or was that just me? ... Read More

Bring back the Shat
Shatner should come back in it just as a cameo, although not necessarily as Pike. Hell old spocks in it, why not old Kirk.   Is Russell Crowe still rumoured to be for Pike? ... Read More
