It might be a while before we see Wallace and Gromit on the big screen again, but the world's foremost cheese enthusiast and his canine friend will return to the small screen next Christmas.
Multi-Oscar winner and owner of many large bow ties Nick Park today announced details of Trouble At' Mill, which starts shooting in January and will screen on BBC 1 over Christmas 2008. This will be the first TV adventure for the duo since A Close Shave.
“I love making films for the cinema but the production of Chicken Run and Curse of the Were-Rabbit were virtually back to back and each film took 5 years to complete," said Park. "Trouble At’ Mill will be so much quicker to make and I can’t wait to get back into production.”
In this latest adventure, Wallace and Gromit have turned their home into a bakery, with a windmill on the roof, all as part of their 'dough to door' delivery service. But no Wallace and Gromit story would be complete without a little mystery and here Gromit becomes worried by the fact that twelve bakers have recently gone missing (there'll be a gag about Wallace making it the baker's dozen in there somewhere). But Wallace has other things on his mind, namely the shapely form of local baked good enthusiast Piella Bakewell.
You can see a short interview with Park about the new film here and check out the production art below. Cracking! Oh, we could help it.
I think taking W&G was a bold move, but it didn't really pay off as much as they would've hoped. However, the half hour adventures is what made W&G big in the first place, and would rather see it as Xmas TV than big screen movie. ... Read More
More Wallace and Gromit can only be a good thing.
The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is my favourite of their adventures (slightly ahead of The Wrong Trousers), so it would be cool if there were another feature-length film, but at least the fact that this one will be a short means that we won't have to wait anywhere near as long. ... Read More
obsolete art britesparc? Apparently your name is trying to be ironic (i hope, otherwise that spelling is just plain worrying) as for this? I think W&G suffered from a long run time in Curse of the were rabbit, for the time they were on screen there didnt seem to be alot ofjokes. Hopefully this will be a 'short' maybe a half hour or so, because another feature may just be the last nail in the coffin for these wonderfull characters. ... Read More
Whilst obviously W&G is a work of absolute art, and I am amazingly excited by this announcement, I'm a bit worried that the plot sounds kinda similar to A Close Shave... ... Read More
