Paddington Bear Coming To Cinemas
Care of Harry Potter's producer

He's been in the news a bit recently for abandoning his favourite marmalade sandwiches in favour of Marmite and cheese (eurgh) and now Paddington Bear is trying to hog more headlines.

Deepest, darkest Peru's most famous native is heading to the big screen under the care of Harry Potter producer David Heyman and Warner Bros.

Hamish McNicholl (Mr Bean's Holiday) is working on a script for the movie. Heyman said of the project, "Paddington Bear is a universally loved character, and I have wanted to bring him to screen for some years. Michael Bond's 'Paddington' books have such wit, wonder and charm. Essentially, Paddington's story is that of an immigrant arriving in London and trying to find a home and a family. Above all, I love Paddington's unique style of comedy."

The film will not take any specific one of the eleven Paddington books as inspiration and it is likely that the bear himself will be a CG creation in a live-action film.

Just one question...
If they're going for the whole "immigrant" thing, does that mean Paddington will have a Peruvian/Latino accent? "Aye, amigo where's my sandwich?" and so on.... Can't wait to see this childhood memory ruined! More

Do you see any bears roaming the british countryside eating marmalade sandwiches? No we all know there are no bears in this country and we all know bears who eat marmalade are from america!!! More

Paddington would lose all of his charm as a CGI character. (and marmite and cheese sandwiches are actually very good), More

stop fucking with my childhood
"essentially a story of an immigrant who arrives in Britain" Jesus, talk about tenouos. I hope he doesn;t try to ride on the Tube, that's all I'm saying More

Stop motion not CGI!
Paddington should stay in his original stop-motion style, not CGI! And he better be eating marmalade sandwiches (although I guess marmite could be turned into the new immigrant trying British 'delicacies' or something crass like that). But please could people stop remaking my childhood -it's quite disturbing :( More

Let's hope his immigrant story is a bit more cheerful than Dirty Pretty Things. More
