New Golden Age Trailer Online
Queen Elizabeth I kicks ass

27 April 2007  |  Written by

There was a dodgy, blurry version of this doing the rounds earlier this week in which Cate Blanchett looked not unlike Axel Rose, but there's now a crystal clear version of the Golden Age trailer online here. And, my, isn't it a handsome beast.

This continuation (we're not supposed to call it a sequel, says director Shekhar Kapur) of the life of Queen Elizabeth I that began with the excellent Elizabeth looks like being a more than worthy successor and almost certain Oscar frontrunner. This time the ginger queen is battling not just church but the world as she does battle with Spain and falls for betighted potato enthusiast Walter Raleigh (Clive Owen).

There's also a little bit of Braveheart-esque evidence of Elizabeth baring sword and doing battle herself. As an counterpoint to the jolly lightness of the summer blockbusters, this looks like a welcome piece of grown-up, gorgeously shot class.

Click here to watch the trailer and for the latest stills.

This is an outstanding trailer... been a while since I've had a trailer send goose bumps down my spine, with it's backing track, amazing sequences and dialogue... I really cannot wait for this movie! Bring it on! More

They will not pass!
Sounds/looks like Galadriel took some tips from Gandalf and Aragorn combined in that scene! That LOTR-esque moment aside, the trailer looks fantastic! More
