Aaron Eckhart Is Two Face
Joining The Dark Knight

After much speculation that has seen names as varied as Ryan Philippe, Liev Schreiber, Sean Penn and Bouncer, ex of Neighbours (possibly not true, but if you say it on the internet it becomes fact) rumoured to be playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face in the Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan has chosen his man. Aaron Eckhart will lend his chinny gravitas to the role of the lawyer, turned disfigured crime lord.

Take care, there be mild spoilers ahead.

According to past interviews given by Batman Begins screenwriter David S Goyer, Dent will be the good guy in this film, helping Bruce Wayne bring down The Joker (Heath Ledger). But in the third in the series he'll be scarred by an attack from The Joker and become Two-Face, with the power to be nice to people's faces and then be, like, really bitchy behind their backs. No, wait, that's wrong, he becomes hideously scarred and schizophrenic and uses the toss of a coin to decide whether to do good or evil. We were thinking of Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls.

The Dark Knight is set to begin shooting in March, with a release date of July 18, 2008.

Flat Actor?
Through all the speculation that this actor would become two face i have been un-optimistic, i saw him and julia stiles in oleanna about two years ago in LOndon and was blown away by the guys depth. He can run a stage and anyone knows that if you can hold a stage you can hold a camera. Last night i saw thank you for smoking. It's comedy genius. Now lets face it christian bale as the bat, we thought it was dodgy, heath ledger as the Joker, decidedly dodge and now this, there is a pattern emerging More

RE: Aaron Eckhart Is Two Face
oyer, who wrote the plans for the 3 movies that are to be made with Nolan stated that Dent is in the next movie attempting to bring the Joker down with Batman, and then he gets scarred at the Jokers trial (either by Ledger or someone else?) and so turns into Two Face in the third film.idn't Goyer say in that interview that the Joker himself would scar Dent? However, I would be very sceptical that this is what's going to happen. Considering Nolan's obsession with secrecy, I doubt Goyer would b More

Good choice. I can say havin seen "Thank you for Smoking" that he would make an interestin Harvey Dent. Not sure about two face thou. My preference was for Hugh Jackman after both "The Fountain" and "The Prestige", or even Jake Gyllenhal, but Eckhart is a worthy choice. Can't wait. More

RE: RE:
boring actor, he has ZERO personality. lly agree. The man has a charisma vaccum. Thank You For Smoking was the most toothless, boring satire i've ever seen, and when you consider it's themes and topics, frankly it's unforgivable. I'm starting to think In The Company Of Men was just a lucky misstep in an otherwise middling carrer for Eckhart, however my faith lies with Nolan. I can't really see Heath Ledger as The Joker either, but i'm prepared to hedge my bets ( along with Eckhart's Two Face ) More

Everybody Knocks Tommy Lee-Jones
But in a PG rated Batman, aimed almost entirely at kids and playing off of Jim Carry I rather liked his Two-Face, people take that film far too seriously and there's no apologizing for that but definitely looking forward (very much) to a more adult oriented, maybe even Hannible-esque Harvey Dent. Kudos to Chris Nolan for re-energizing the Mythos. More

Good choice
Now all we need is for them to announce that Fairuza Balk is playing Harleen Quinzel, and all shall be well in the city of Gotham! :) More

RE: Aaron Eckhart Is Two Face
A two Face who is an intelligent and divided individual.  One who is capable of being a challenge to Batman rather than being some second rate thug who gurns a lot and then just shoots things.  I must say a good bit of casting here. More

L: sanchia Perhaps now the healing can begin following the abomination of Tommy Lee Jones' version of Two Face. men. A cackling, 'must try and do a Nicholson' abomination by an actor who should have known better! I find it a bit embarassing watching it, he looks like he think's he's in the TV version of Batman (although Schumacher is as much to blame for that!). Bring on an 'adult' version of Two-Face. More

As I said in the other thread the only downside to this is it diminishes his chances of playing Captain America. Other than that a resounding thumbs up. More

Good Move
Given the excellent quality and (more important to the studios) huge profits of Begins it was inevitable we'd see another two on the scene pretty quickly. I think Christian Bale fitted the role in the first film perfectly, as did all the other actors for that matter, and so far they seem to be making the right choices for this one too. Now, I never read the comics so I only have Batman Forever (shiver) to go on but Eckhart seems a good choice - hopefully not as camp or stupidly defeated as the T More

maybe I should clear this up
It's been public knowledge for a while that in the sequel they're not having the Joker scar Dent but Dent getting scarred at his trial during an attempt to kill the Joker himself. Kinda like what happened in The Long Halloween but a bit different. By the way, great casting-still not sure on Ledger though.... More

great choice, i'm sure about this but still undure of joker casting! and whoever's bitching about the joker not scarring dent. I don't think anyuone in particulaly special did, it was just sum crook! the only thing im worried about now is casting maggie gylenhall as katie holme's charcater! i've no problem with the actress but make her a new charcater, the only time you can have the same charcater with a different actor is dr who and james bond!
