After finding success back in 1999 with the TV movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, Halle Berry obviously feels that true-life drama might just be able to give her career an injection to healthy success.
So she’s climbed aboard DreamWorks’ drama Class Act to play Tierney Cahill, a teacher from Nevada whose students challenged her to run for the US Congress in 2000. The students pitched in to help with her campaign and while she lost the election, she scored an impressive 35% of the popular vote – not bad for a candidate with no major political backing.
Unusually for the world of Hollywood casting, Cahill herself is white, but according to “sources”, the producers felt it was more important to find the right actress, regardless of race or colour.
Akeelah And The Bee’s Doug Atchison will write and direct the movie. |
