Bernal As Bourne's Bad Guy?
Now that’s just sloppy... Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon have started filming The Bourne Ultimatum in Tangier, but they’re missing one small element.

Yes, Bourne currently has no bad guy to fight. While Joan Allen, Julia Stiles and David Strathairn are all on board, the team are still looking for Bourne’s nemesis, a super-killer who targets Bourne after the amnesiac assassin delves further into his own past.

But they could be closing in one – while no one’s yet sat down at the negotiating table, The Science Of Sleep’s Gael Garcia Bernal has been offered the role. It remains to be seen if he’ll join the cast.

RE: Bernal As Bourne's Bad Guy?
This could be interesting. Bernal has played some pretty dark roles ina Educación,res Perrosnd g, h the was an element of the victim in all of those characters too. Physically, he's not how you would envision a typical "spy movie villain" but that could just be the very thing to make this character work. After all, the Bourne series is not your typical spy-series either. I love it when directors take chances with casting in mainstream movies. It reminds me that Hollywood sti... Read More

RE: Unlikely
I agree that it's good to see a 'proper' actor in the role, and not just some journeyman bad guy. While I myself would also think that Bernal would be too good for the role, there are two things which go against that: 1) the quality of the role, if the previous two Bourne films are any indicator, is likely to be higher than some standard baddie roles, so possibly more of a challenge and 2) I've been watching Bernal in films for years and own most of his Spanish language ones, but to many people... Read More
