War Games 2 Has A Director
Stuart Gillard signs on
Source: Production Weekly

Directing the sequel to a beloved cult film – well, a cult film – when the original is 23 years in the past can’t be an easy task.

But it’s a job that Stuart Gillard is unafraid to take on. Because he’s just been hired to bring us War Games 2: The Dead Game. Now that we’re closer to the film actually shoot, a proper plot synopsis has arrived. The story, written by Randall M Badat, sees another teenage hacker deciding it would be fun to see if a super-computer can beat him at a terror simulation game. Trouble is, the government’s HAL-alike machine decides he’s a real terrorist threat and alerts Homeland Security.

Gillard, whose last job was the distinctly dodgy Kart Racer in 2003, will start shooting WG2 in November.

RE: No, No and No!
L: dops Somebody needs to round up all the talentless, derivative hacks in Hollywood and push them in the ocean. Just an idea boys and girls but why not come up with an original story, not a remake or a re-imagining or a sequel to a film which didn't get a fucking sequel in the first place. I liked Wargames, when I was a kid I thought it was a great movie but it doesn't need or deserve a sequel. Also isn't the plot of the sequel almost exactly like the original? FFS! sp; Noo... Read More

If they can make this flick for under ten million dollars - and I can imagine they will - the makers will probably shove "War Games 2" straight to DVD, and watch the undiscriminating chavs who litter the aisles of your local BlockBuster pick it up for a Friday night rental, alongside this weeks direct-to-dvd Wesley Snipes pointless-a-thon... ... Read More

bah, fuck-bug!
I'd make a big fucking rant about this, but then RoadHouse 2, Hollow Man 2 & 8mm2 have all been made, so really what is any opinion going to do to deter these fuck-nuts? Hey, might even get someone a job one day, beats commercials. ... Read More

Don't worry...
...this sounds like its a straight-to-dvd movie. Hopefully it will sink without trace if its just gonna be a platant copy like the plot suggests. One good thing of this article tho, I can't wait to now watch the original again. Its quality! I can just see that phone-modem being connected by broderick as I type. Heh heh heh. ... Read More
