The Omen’s Julia Styles is picking up the megaphone and directing her first film.

But don’t head for the local fleapit just yet – it’s a short called Raving, which is part of a promotion sponsored by Elle magazine. Stiles is also writing the short film, based on an article in a recent issue called The Dress That Changed My Life.

Starring Zooey Deschanel and Bill Irwin, the plot charts an unexpected connection between a young woman and a depressed older man after they meet by accident in New York.

"I wanted to focus on characters not involved in the fashion world to illustrate how the seemingly simple act of getting dressed shapes one's identity," Stiles told Variety. Any interested thesps wishing to make their directing debut on shorts taken from old Empire articles, the queue starts down the hall.
