Optimus Prime Ready For His Close-Up
New Transformers pics appear online

submit to reddit

"Hello. I'm beloved Autobot leader Optimus Prime. I know that some of you human Transformers fans have been having system failures at the thought of me sporting painted flames. I would warn you, then, to prepare to be even more outraged at plans to eschew my usual deep red colour for a more modernistic yellow and green hue. It’s just the way I’m feeling right now. Got to look 2.0 for the kids.

“Just kidding! But it certainly looks like the flames are here to stay, if these latest, clearer images of me in the flesh – well, metal - are anything to go by. The debates have already been spreading like wildfire, so head on over to Ain't It Cool News for a little extra fuel. And please remember: never take sweets from Decepticons. Thank you. Prime out.”

Yes, kids, it's another possible first look at Optimus Prime. Is this it? Or is it another model that the studio will disavow all knowledge of? Have a look for yourself and then decide...

Head over to Ain't It Cool News for more pictures.

Bionicles rather than transformers
They look more like bionicle robots. and i cant understand why star screen is the biggest and towers over the rest, even megatron.its hard to say how this movie is going to turn out. Dreamworks have changed everything to much..wel just have to wait and see. but seeing pictures and trailers of this movie, it doesnt quite have the same feel as the original autobots and decepticons.. but special effects are impressive. Please. Never pretend to be a character again. It's just lame. More

transformers belongs in the eighties
It isn't going to be good. We want it to be good. The proper trailer will make it look good. But Michael Bay... aaahhh Michael, darling... please... We're all going to get excited. The Empire Reading (and for those who are too cheap and just read the website) public are going to WANT to like this Unless a miracle happens this is going to be a three star film (two on video) and that the mutha-fuckin truth. Monster House was good though ;-p More

I don't really like this look. Sure, it's detailed and all, but have a look at the Transformers : Infiltration comics, there's a detailed Optimus, which still looks like the G1 Optimus. I'd like that a lot better. I especially fear the pictures I've seen of Megatron. I mean, a cybertronian jet (possibly) without a blaster on his arm? That's no Megatron. I also heard that there will be no mass shifting, so where will that leave Soundwave? More

Prime Opinion
Change can be a good thing. Original design of comic/cartoon would not work live action. I would never want someone directing a movie who could be influenced by whiners on-line. More

optimus prime
this is a terrible look for optimus, cause it doesnt look like the generation 1 version when its suppose to look like the generation 1 optimus prime, cause he's not a racing car , but a normal red truck. I think they must now fix this problem and make the transformers look exactly like the 80's cartoons version since the film is about the first few episodes of season one. More

Who gives a rat's ass
"A serious film was too much to expect" are you cocking kidding me. It's a film based on toys about robot's who turn into cars and fight. Fuck me lets get Hulk Hogan in and really spice it up. Do people actually make films for adults anymore, and can somebody recommend an agent for my slinky spring script idea. More

why is everyone so fucking excited over this bloody movie! Transformers is a stupid idea! robot aliens who come to eartha nd fight each other! get out of your parents basement and actually discuss something worth arguin over! such as firefly, angel...the fact that star wars is finaly being released in its original version or you could find something that isnt thirty years old and shows its age! the tv show at the moment is BOLLOCKS! RE:
I totally agree.  To be honest, and I choose my words very carefully, although I love Transformers G1 the classic Optimus in robot form I felt didn't always give the impression of being one of the biggest, hardest robots ever to roll out of Alpha Trion's workshop.  Obvious exeptions being his charge into battle in the animated movie and his first ever altercation with Megatron in War Dawn.  Speaking of which, I'm actually far more interested in how they depict Megatron, esp More

It's not about blinging him up, it's about making it realistic, and yet also honouring previous incarnations. Which it does fine. More

Posted by doctorolorinbats1975 at 19:41 on 06 September 2006 | Report This Post

They couldn't resist could they. They had to bling it up. So is Optimus prime driven by a chav or something? Flames? A serious film was too much to expect I guess. More

Lots of concept images have been leaked, but I really like the realism look of the Transformers, and Optimus looks very recognisable. More

the flames are unneccessary but it's recognisable as optimus prime which is about all we can hope for, surely? More

Posted by kingy7 at 11:37 on 06 September 2006 | Report This Post

It's just a concept pic. Check out all the images from the still galleries on the Star Wars and Lord of the Rings DVDs, or any other DVD. They always have hundreds of concepts artworks which are either improved upon or chucked, but rarely make it into the film in the form in which you see them. More

RE: I swear that thing wasn't there!!
This is only a concept pic of Prime dated October 2005. The most recent concept is a bit more bulkier with improvements to the feet, shoulders and face.   For those people who wont further info check out Don Murphys website (He is one of the producers) and Michael Bays Website, Nelson is the forum moderator and has confirmed the date of this concept. They are also 1st hand sources and not 3rd hand. www.d13satellite.com/donmurphy/forumdisplay.php?s=1c620 b6d84e7af64313be833f8e0b944&am More
