Brett Ratner Remaking Boys From Brazil
A new take on the cloning thriller
Source: Variety

Brett Ratner Remaking Boys From Brazil
When he’s finished wrangling Chris Tucker and directing Jackie Chan’s fists for Rush Hour 3, Brett Ratner plans to move on to The Boys From Brazil.

New Line has nabbed remake rights to the film from the jaws of Universal (not the actual Jaws – they don’t send sharks to business deals. Or do they?) by offering the services of Ratner.

The story’s based on Ira Levin’s novel and is a tale of Nazis in South America trying to bring back the Third Reich via cloning. Brazil’s first attempt had Gregory Peck as Dr Josef Mengele, the evil genius behind the plan.

"The original was a flawed film with a brilliant concept," Ratner told Variety. "You no longer have to spend time explaining cloning as you did then." We don’t know who he’ll cast as the villain, but rumour has it Chris Tucker might be free. Kidding! We hope.
