Transformers Teaser Trailer Online
First glimpse of the Robots In Disguise

30 June 2006  |  Written by   |  Source: www.transformersmovie.com/

submit to reddit

The countdown over at the official Transformers movie site has run down and Michael Bay has stuck the first teaser online.

It’s not exactly a long chunk of footage, and it looks like it was shot entirely separately from the film itself, but it does offer a fleeting robo-glimpse and, at the end, the movie’s name transforms into the release date. Because it’s about Transformers. Clever, eh? Our inner nerd was a little unhappy that the transformation process wasn’t sound tracked with the cartoon’s classic noise (you know, the one that sounds like a Bontempi organ mating with a Darth Vader voice-changing tool), but we soon calmed it down by showing it a picture of Optimus Prime. Robots fun!

Go see it here in Flash format (though Bay has also put it up for download in lovely QuickTime on his site here) and decide for yourself if it means that Bay will ruin the legacy of the robots in disguise…

RE: A Michael Bay Joint
hy have the transformers come from mars when we all know that they crash land on earth from escaping cybertron on their ship and are awoken by an volcanic eruption and they take the form of vehicles in order to diguise themselves. I think that they'll give the transformers normal bullet firing weapons instead of the laser cannons they have in the comics and the cartoons. More

I THINK IT'S COOL THEY'VE ACTUALLY MADE A LIVE ACTION TRANSFORMERS MOVIE ESPECIALLY IF IT'S BASED ON THE ORIGINAL MARVEL COMICS NOT THE NEW CRAPPY ONES AND IT BECOOL TO SEE OPTIMUS PRIME AND ULTRA MAGNUS IN A BIG BATTLE AND ALL THE OTHER DECEPTICONS AND AUTOBOTS FIGHTING AND IN FRONT OF ALL THE HUMANS SO LOOKING FOWARD TO SEEING IT ON THE BIG SCREEN AND IT'S GOT TO BETTER THAN PEARL HARBOUR AND IF THIS ONE BECOMES A BOX OFFICE HIT MAYBE HE SHOULD CONSIDER MAKING FILMS OF DINO RIDERS AND THUNDE More

Just to make people feel a lot better. This is from Michael Bay's l blogBTW, for those of you asking: 1- None of the Mars story, launch footage, and rover footage is going to be in the movie. 2.- Yes, Bay did shoot the rover footage. More

RE: Transformers disaster movie?
As merely a casual Transformers geek (I love the Citroen ads too), I can't wait for this film to break next year. I quite liked the teaser - plenty of menace and just a glimpse of something big, metal and angry.   I liked the Beagle/Mars idea, but as someone's already pointed out, Beagle 2 didn't have wheels, and - if I'm beng really pedantic - last time I checked, Mars doesn't have clouds in its bright blue sky (no atmosphere y'see...). D'oh.   This all leads me to belive tha More

Transformers disaster movie?
I liked the teaser trailer. It reminded me of War OF The Worlds or Independance Day. Deceptacons attack earth, Octomus Prime and the gang try to thwart them. If they do it this way, with a mild horror angle, loads of action and a dark, forboding score, then the Transformers Movie has some great potential. On the other hand, it might just be a bunch of Hot Wheels toy cars buzzing about shouting cheesy one liners and comebacks. Despite his films usually going clunkety clunk, Michael Bay does More

I dont care what you say about Michael Bay
I liked the Island. totally underrated.. you cant judge a film by one guys accent.. though thats what we did to mr reeves. Transformers was always far too big for such a small 42" plasma. I think with the the bigger canvas and I guy who knows what hes doing when it comes to action, paired with the user friendly nature of Mr Spielberg, it should be good.. althrough, lets hope HP5, spider 3 and any other sequel next summer doesn't turn this into Titan AE More

one of the hardest films to make... a good film..not a good start
when I first heard the news of a transformers movie coming out, my brain immediately remembered the excellent 1st cartoon movie of the transformers series that I went to see in the cinema many moons ago, then I thought that was good film, I still watch it now!. Its one of my fav films. A live action one is such a tall order that supes would have trouble leaping over it. Did Michael bay watch the original film or any of the series? the trailer was poor.. the robot silhouette looked like the C3-P More

Ok, well that trailer went down to me like a sack of dead babies! What I saw, was a dramatisation of a the Beagle Mars mission, and some text. Relation to Transformers?? 0!! All that 'teased' me into doing, was to not be that bothered waiting for it cos it's gonna be rushed and crap. More

Disappointing soundeffects!
A disappointing teaser. I was disappointed by the transforming sound effect. I kind of took it for granted they would use a similar sound to the cartoon. Maybe they will in the finished film. Hope so. I also hope they use the original theme as a full orchestra version. That could be ace. Don't mind if they use modern vehicles though as long as optimus prime is still a big rig of some kind. More

Bay: The Ulitmate Disaster Director
Am I alone in thinking that Michael Bay is completely the wrong director for this movie? Love the idea of the movie, glad DreamWorks/Paramount are doing it, but come on... Michael Bay really can't direct very well. All you have to do is look at Bad Bays 2, Pearl Harbor and The Island to see what I am talking about. I could be wrong, this could be the best film he's ever made, and can prove me wrong, but from previous track record (only The Rock is deemed good directorial work, except the car ch More

Hate to go geeky on you but...
Okay first - this film is going to be BRILLIANT. No doubts about that but I do have two questions about this teaser trailer: 1) Why is it American accents at mission control or whatever when the Beagle is being launched - the European Space Agency was responsible for Beagle2 2, not NASA. 2) Why does the Beagle have wheels? The Beagle had no movement ability at all (other than a drilling device for taking samples). Tut tut. More

Ok, you've changed my mind!
Having read other people's comments, I've decided the only reason I don't like this trailer is because I'm convincing myself the film will suck. I guess if detatch myself, emotionally, from Transformers, I have to concede it's a well-conceived "announcement" trailer. I still think it lacks a big punch; the way the War of the Worlds trailer ended was a shock and an excitement. But I guess, all things considered, it's OK. More

In a word, dire
My god, that was bad. I really shouldn't have let my hopes for this grow in anyway shape or form. When this film was announced I anticipated the rape of my childhood, this trailer seems to confirm it. The stuff about the Beagle Mars Probe is total bilge, incredibly poorly shot - not to mention IT LOOKS AS MUCH LIKE MARS AS MARGATE ON A WET TUESDAY AFTERNOON DOES. Really, really terrible. And the Robot effects must be AWFUL if they won't show any yet, not even what any of the character More

What???
That was so underwhelming! I'd read that Steve Jablonsky was doing the music for the teaser and as the trailer starts up I thought, wow, that sounds great, to find out that's just Bay's music for his logo, ultimately the best part of this supposed 'teaser'. The transforming effect was great, but it was also amazingly slow - I'll put that down to turning so many letters into a couple of numbers, but really, this plodded along and looked so...clean and crisp...in a bad way.
