You already know that Fox is working on a remake of seminal 1984 comedy Revenge Of The Nerds, the movie that launched Anthony Edwards’ career and became a comic highlight of American Splendor.

Well, now the company – or rather its oddly titled sub-company Fox Atomic – has found a director. Kyle Newman will bark the orders for the film, having just finished working on Star Wars-geeks-on-a-mission comedy Fanboys.

He sounds perfect – and the remake will re-team him with Fanboys writer Adam F Goldberg. “Kyle's brand of comedy is so fresh and irreverent that he is the perfect choice to inject fresh life into the franchise," Atomic chief John Hegeman mouthed to The Hollywood Reporter. "We are also so excited about Kyle reuniting with Adam Goldberg, who is unbelievably witty. Together, they are a perfect combination."
