Deal Me In
Burt Reynolds in poker drama

29 March 2006  |  Written by   |  Source: Variety

Poker. It’s the sporting sensation even really lazy people can enjoy.

Crescent City Pictures is hoping that the current trend for the game hasn’t lost all its steam and hired Gil Cates Jr to direct Deal, starring Burt Reynolds and Orange County's Bret Harrison.

The gambling pic sees an ex-gambler who teaches the tricks of the game to a skilful college student. But after the pair has a bitter falling out, they end up competing against each other in the World Poker Tour Championship.

The film, which was also co-written by Cates, will kick off shooting in New Orleans in April, and also stars Shannon Elizabeth and Charles Durning alongside a host (or should that be a flush?) of real-life poker stars.
