Will Smith Takes A Thief Starring in a TV adaptation
Will Smith has some serious criminal tendencies. No, he hasn’t just knocked over the Beverly Hills Jewel-O-Rama, but he’s signed up to star in a movie adaptation of TV series It Takes A Thief.
It would take a stretch of the memory to recall the original, which ran waaay back in the late ‘60s from 1968-1970. Robert Wagner (best known these days for his comedy turn as Number Two in the Austin Powers films) was a charming rogue who is blackmailed by the government into using his talents to help his country.
The update will see Smith’s light-fingered type pressed into service by the CIA. David Elliot and Paul Lovett (Four Brothers) are about to work on the script.
There’s no director attached yet.

Sounds like formulatic mince (the asda smartprice kind). the CIA, or FBI or WGF (WhoGivesaFuck) recruits a criminal in order to do whatever.. in return his slate gets wiped clean... oooh, but! the baddies are actually the employers &.. &.. &...ah who gives a toss. meh indeed ... Read More
sounds a little like 48 Hours only not really that funny and with a 12A certificate cos it's Will Smith. Will's got the talent (MIB, Ali, ID4) to go far but if he keeps making duds (the converse all stars ad that was I,Robot, Hitch or the wicky-wicky Wild Wild West) he may go all Eddie Murphy only with out the legendary status established for stand up. i think if Will is going to do a tv adaptation, he should go back to the well-Fresh Prince:the movie! imagine Will nowadays is an up tight settle...
