Fox film President Tom Rothman has been talking about X-Men 3. And it sounds like it’s the end of an era for everyone’s favourite mutants.
Speaking at the premiere of Big Momma’s House 2 in LA, Rothman had this to say about the latest X-adventure: “The official title, is X-Men: The Last Stand. It's is the conclusion of this trilogy. These three movies work as a trilogy. These characters in this relationship, it's the culmination of that saga. It's the culmination and the resolution of those relationships laid out in the first two movies. That doesn't mean never, I would ever say never again but I will say that this brings that saga to an end. It's quite the way the last Lord Of The Rings, Return Of The King, brought that trilogy to a conclusion in terms of those characters, that's what this movie does. It goes all the way back to the first one and rounds off and completes that three-part story.”
He added that he doubts it’s the end of the X-Men universe, what with Wolverine and Magneto-focused films already in development. We also need to be ready for Fantastic Four 2, which is being written now and is planned for a July 2007 release and Alien Vs Predator 2, which Fox hopes to have in cinemas by August 2007.
Please don't inflict us with AVP2. It is just too much! And to be honest I'm getting a little bit bored with Wolverine being the centre of attention, to be really bothered with a movie of his own. I thought X Men 1 and 2 were all about him anyway. I will however, look forward to a spin off for Magneto. The sequence in X men 1 with him at the concentration camp as a young boy just proves there is a great story there. I think a good two hours could be spent just on the story of him in the concentr... Oh no...a fan who actually likes films...run away!
I adore the mix of wry humour and Deep Thoughts vel comics, and their adaptations...ok, so the more cynical among you might point out Ioan Gruffudd and Hugh Jackman as the sources of my enthusiasm, and maybe you would be right, but I appreciate a film that sets out to be enjoyable. Even if the fans all come out screaming "but phoenix wears green, dammit!", I can say that I will enjoy watching X3...no doubt afterwards, I will tear apart the direction and mourn the defection of Singer to... I'm sorry, you can call me an XMen geek if you want, but where is the best character? I have not seen any evidence of the final decision to have Gambit in the movie, this is just wrong!
Gambit is cute, funny and has the best personality of all the XMen! It is him and Rogue who should be together, him and the bossy Southerner Rogue, not the weak Xmen Evolution version! ... Read More
1) Singer should have stayed to finish the trilogy. It could've been the best superhero series ever, but I doubt that now (even Supes looks mediocre)
2) They should re-start the entire trilogy again with X4. Take some bit players from the first trilogy and continue.
3) Bring Me The Head Of Tom Rothmann! AvsP 2?? Fantastic Four 2?? This guy (and all the Fox execs with him) didn't only sell his soul to Satan, he gave it away free! ... Read More

they way (in my opinion) that they will work it if they were to continue the x-men franchise would be to either bring in new actors and characters while keeping about 1 maybe 2 of the old ones and follow on. but yet again they might just do spinoffs with new characters. ... Read More
It's all about money folks, I have to agree on what's been posted so far. It would be just too darn expensive to keep the X-men franchise exactly as it is. The whole point of making movies is to spend as little as possible and make lots at the box office. As Helen says, it would make X-4 too expensive a project. Will they bring it back with new actors ? Maybe, I say never say never.
Now about AVP2 and FF2... I don't know who decided to green light these two films. The same sort of person... Read More
