High On A Kite
A live-action anime adaptation

Here’s a set-up you don’t see every day: two Mexican directors best known for their work in advertising are working on a live-action adaptation of an anime. And Rob Cohen is producing.

Jorge and Javier Aguilera – collectively known, confusingly, as Big Brother – will direct Kite, the story of a young woman whose parents are brutally killed. She’s taken in by a corrupt detective who uses street kids to do his dirty work. Our heroine applies street justice to the ‘tec’s enemies, but then turns on him.

The original anime is known for graphic depictions of violence and sex. The new live-action version takes place in a near-future world where a police state has arisen, spurred on by terrorism fears.

"In animated features you can deal in archetypes and icons more easily than in real flesh-and-blood films,” Cohen told Variety. “
So we're trying to get some heart into the style."

[Live Action]
I'd like to see an actual 'live' film. Like theatre only filmed live live! That would rock! Anyway, This sounds pretty cool although no doubt it'll be freakin weird! I'm still waiting for a live action version of Naruto! That would be The Best Thing Ever! -s- More
