| 22 November 2005 | George Clooney Back With Coen Brothers! Exclusive: He's directing their script |
|
George Clooney is set to direct a comedy written by the Coen brothers. “I’m going to do a comedy with Joel and Ethan in around a year,” he said. “I really like working with them and I like doing comedy with them.”
The film will be Suburbicon, scripted by the Coens, with whom Clooney made O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Intolerable Cruelty. "They offered me a part in Suburbicon a long time ago, and since then decided they have other projects they want to work on,” he said. "So I called them up and said 'How about me taking a spin at it?' Because it's a really interesting, really funny, very dark comedy."
Clooney is currently working on The Good German, with Section 8 buddy Steven Soderbergh. The film focuses on Clooney as a US journalist drawn into a murder mysetry. “I’m working on that with Cate Blanchett and Tobey Maguire, the actor Tobey Maguire! We’ve had a blast and Cate is everything is she’s cracked up to be: she can do anything that girl!" |
