Exclusive: Guy Ritchie's Next Project?

After Swept Away, Guy Ritchie discussed plans to make a big-screen telling of the Great Siege of Malta – but then made Revolver instead. We talked to him recently, and asked what he'd been doing in the three years since Swept Away.

"This one took a long time to write," said Ritchie. "Most of the last three years has been working on this. I actually finished another script, which was based on the siege of Malta, and that took about a year to write. I was going to do that one first, but then a load of other epics came out first. So I thought I’d see how they did."

"It’s hard to make those movies good. I thought the best of that type was Pirates of the Caribbean. I’d still like to make it some time in the future. But I think they work best if they’re fun, they don’t seem to work if they’re serious, because they’re silly stories."

So is this more Pirates of the Caribbean, or more Kingdom of Heaven?

"If I was to go either way it would be more towards Pirates."You heard it here first ladies and gentlemen – we'll keep you up to date as we learn more.
