Lohan's Grohan Up
Mean Girls star on remakes, recording and Red Bull

Lindsey Lohan is on a roll. With ace new film Mean Girls released on Friday and fresh from her stint as this year's MTV Movie awards host, she’s hot hot hot, with more projects on the go than a Brooklyn slum.

After the success of last year's Freaky Friday she’s got two other remakes in the pipeline. First up is I Dream of Jeannie, a remake of the hit 1960’s sitcom, in which she will play a mischievous genie. “It’s a great script,” she told Empire, although she may need to swat up on it a bit. “I know of it, I've seen some of the re-runs”. If it helps, Lindsay, it starred Larry Hagman and Barbara Eden, was created by Sidney Sheldon of all people, and in Empire's opinion at least, kicked the arse of Bewitched on a regular basis.

Straight after that is a 'reimagining' of that mad film about a Volkswagen with a mind of its own, The Love Bug, which is a slightly more transitional role for Lohan. “In Herbie I play a twenty year old, she's more mature, she's a student in college and she's drives race cars. I'm taking driving lessons for that now.”

Yet although Mean Girls represents a step in the right direction (as did a recent bikini-clad shoot in Vanity Fair), adult roles are still an issue for Lohan. “There’s this script that I’m reading now that I really want to do and that everyone is telling me to do, saying 'you could win an Oscar for this," she says. "The character has an abortion because she goes to a party and gets drunk. But to lose my virginity in a movie means I can't go back on it, so it’s really, really hard.” Oo-er missus etc.

And if that wasn’t enough, plans are also afoot for her to follow the likes of J-Lo and record an album. Not bad going for a seventeen year-old. And don't expect a burnt-out, freebasing Lohan to grace the tabloids anytime soon. “There's an unwritten rule in the clubs, they know and I know that I can’t drink," she laughs. "But I can have Red Bull.” Hmm… gives you wings, apparently. Apt metaphor for her career, anyone?

For more from Lohan, come back tomorrow (Thursday 17) for an exclusive interview.
