| 28 January 2010 | Bill Paxton Joins Soderbergh's Knockout But it's game over, man for Dennis Quaid Source: The Playlist |
|
| Curse those pesky scheduling issues! Dennis Quaid is having to drop out of Steven Soderbergh's latest, Knockout, because he can't figure out time in his diary thanks to a prior commitment to Soul Surfer, which Kevin Sorbo* is directing. So Soderbergh is negotiating with Bill Paxton to replace him.
Knockout, as you'll likely know by now, will star mixed martial artist Gina Carano as a black ops soldier on the run after she's double crossed. If he signs (and it looks like he will), Paxton will take over the role of her father.
And that's not all the new casting info. According to The Playlist, Mathieu Kassovitz has also joined the film in an undisclosed role.
He's just one more for a sprawling cast that already includes Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, Michael Fassbender and Michael Angaro. And Grover from Sesame Street. Kidding! Just checking you were still playing attention.
Soderbergh will be hoping nothing else changes now - he starts shooting early next week in Dublin.
*Yes, we're aware this means that Quaid has chosen to stick with a film directed by TV's former Hercules instead of working with Steven Soderbergh. But Soul Surfer follows the true story of a Florida teen whose arm is snacked upon by a shark, so you can see his reasoning.
