Wes Craven Back For Scream 4?

Scream’s post-modern scares are going to need some serious rebooting when it comes to shooting the fourth film next spring – lest we forget, Scary Movie's about to hit number five, God help us – but the good news is that Emperor Of Horror Wes Craven will very likely there to see the blood spillage is in safe hands.

The franchise’s main screamer, Neve Campbell – who, after five years living in the UK, is so anglicised that she may well be the last person alive to own a Blockbuster card* – is getting ready to bring her best worried face out of the loft when shooting starts next spring, and told Black Book: “I’m pretty sure at this stage that Wes Craven is back on board to direct and Kevin Willamson is definitely writing it...so it is going to be great.”

While Craven had previously said he wasn't sure Campbell would be back for the fourth outing, she's all signed up to star alongside Scream alumni Courtney Cox and David Arquette. Campbell said: “I’m sure it took a while to convince them to take part [in the picture], especially because they’re now a very happy family ,and of course, it was a long journey for them. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, and a lot like going back to summer camp.”

Mmm, summer camp with back stabbing – sounds just like the real thing.

* This is an actual celebrity trufax as we once sat next to the lovely Neve at the theatre and saw the shiningly blue card in her wallet at the bar. Also on Empire’s theatrical stalking list, Olly Richards and Helen O’Hara try to kidnap Lenny Henry from stage seats at Othello.

The Scream Franchise: Scooby Doo For Adults
They're back for the money, not because they have a great idea. Kevin Williamson's career tanked many years ago and he never had anything as huge as Scream after it. The main problem with Scream is that is has different killers dressed as Ghostface in every movie unlike the consistency of a Freddy, Jason or Michael Myers, so they have to keep coming up with different reasons for why these different killers start killing. It's like Scooby Doo, it always someone dressed up as the killer instead... Read More
