Kick-Ass Character Posters Now Online
See (the backs of) a new breed of heroes

Kick-Ass Character Posters Now Online

We’re enormously excited about Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn’s balls-out deconstruction of the superhero flick, here at Empire Towers. And the debut of these American posters for the film haven’t changed that one iota.

Ever since the news was announced that Vaughn would be adapting (and independently financing) this adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr’s ultra-violent tale of a young New York teen who becomes a costumed vigilante, there’s been an air of genuine cool about the movie. And the posters, which show only the backs of key characters Kick-Ass, Hit Girl, Big Daddy and Red Mist, standing on top of a New York skyscraper, fits in with that: idiosyncratic and deeply, deeply cool.

In case you don’t know, Kick-Ass (Brit newcomer Aaron Johnson) is the hapless teen, Dave Lisewski; Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) is a heroically violent vigilante, training his daughter, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz, who is going to be HUGE after this film) in the deadly art of offing bad guys; while Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) is the son of a notorious local mobster (Mark Strong), who turns to superheroism in an attempt to escape his dad’s shadow.

We also like the way the posters are ignoring the actors’ names, for the time being, and establishing the idea of these characters as entities in their own right. We’re sure that Cage’s name will be front and centre nearer the release, but for the time being, we dig this approach. A lot.
