A Single Shot For Michael Fassbender
Star joins man-on-the-run thriller
Source: Variety

A Single Shot For Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender – who really should be a much, much bigger star than he is – has signed on to play the lead in the thriller, A Single Shot.

Fassbender – so good this year in the hugely contrasting Inglourious Basterds and Fish Tank - will play a poacher on the run from a pair of killers in the film, which will be directed by David Jacobson.

Forest Whitaker, William H. Macy and Thomas Haden Church round out the cast, although we’re not yet entirely sure who’s playing the killers.

Fassbender is close to making the breakthrough to genuine stardom – word is that he was one of the shortlisted stars on George Miller’s Max Max list for Fury Road – but so far he seems to be targeting leads in lower-budget films, like this and Neil Marshall’s eagerly-awaited Roman flick, Centurion, perhaps as a way of proving that he can carry action films. Do that, and the $100 million behemoths should come his way.

The indie flick, to be produced by Chris Coen, will start shooting in Ontario, Canada, next January.

Fassbender is a dude
I really, really like him. And not just because I'm a lady and he's a handsome fella, I think he's a real talent. I managed to catch Fish Tank recently and he was fantastic in that. I can't wait for Centurion - Fassbender and McNulty in Roman armour is almost too much for this history geek to bear! ... Read More

Agreed
Very under used actor, but he probably picks his role carefully so as to not fall into the Colin Farrell pit falls of promising actor (Tigerland) to mega flops lead star (Alexander). Having watched 300 again recently I feel he'd make a terrific action star hence I would love to see him in the upcoming Alien or Predator films ... Read More

Mr. Fassbender may disagree, but I have seen him get better and better so his rise is perfectly timed. Regardless, he is almost unnerving on screen and clearly knows what roles to choose. The overdone CGI stuff is great for his name - but watching him in Hunger and Fish Tank - this guy is what acting is about. ... Read More
