Exclusive: New Green Zone Poster First look at the worldwide one-sheet
It's been a long time coming, but the release date for Paul Greengrass' Green Zone is finally approaching (it's out in March), and here is an exclusive first look at the worldwide one-sheet poster to prove it.
While everyone (including us) assumed this was a war movie at first, it's increasingly clear that Greengrass has in fact made something that's closer to an action-thriller, despite being set against the backdrop of the Iraq War. Damon plays Chief Warrant Officer* Roy Miller, who gets increasingly frustrated by the bad intelligence he's been given in the hunt for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and starts his own investigation to find out what's going on. Also, according to this tagline, he's "done following orders".
And really, as posters for action-thrillers go, this one's got everything you need. It's got Matt Damon, it's got him wearing one of those nifty vests with many useful, manly tools attached to it, and he's looking a bit worried so you know the situation's tense. It's also a tad gritty looking, so you know Greengrass is involved, and has a (dare we say it?) slightly Jason Bourne tint somehow.
Green Zone comes out on March 12, 2010, and also stars Brendan Gleeson, Jason Isaacs, Greg Kinnear and Amy Ryan.
*You too may be wondering what this is. It turns out it's a rank that's senior to enlisted men but below full officers, made up of highly skilled specialists.
The Bournes where good but were beginning to get bad for me, i think that 3 was enough and that they stopped at the right time, but don't get me wrong, i loved the films! ... Read More
Yip, I'd you're just about the only person who finds the Bourne films shite.
There's been a dearth of films that offer us intelligence, actual stories, and good characters.
The Bourne films have this, and to top it off, they're action films. Honestly, what's not to like.
Unless you're one those who actually liked AVP and AVP:R and gets excited at the prospect of another Epic Movie, Superhero Movie, Disaster Movie, et al. In that case, your dislike is perfectly understandable.

I've seen the trailer for this, and whilst it looks typically (in)tense and intelligent, it smacks a weeee bit too much of Bourne. The photography and camerawork are identical! Also there's the whole espionage/intrigue aspect to the plot, the all-star B-list cast and the Evil American Bureaucrat On A Phone scene. And it's not just the Paul Greengrass-Matt Damon pairing that makes me say this.
That said, it could just be the trailer-makers spinning out a Bourne-like riff. And even if it is like ... Read More
Look, there's no denying that Bourne's the character Damon is most often identified with. Iconic character and quality films, it was bound to happen. What Damon has on his side is the fact that he is a very, very, VERY, good actor. Look at his stuff prior to Bourne. Talented Mr. Ripley, Good Will Hunting, Oceans Eleven, these roles couldn't be more different from Bourne. I don't see Bourne colouring the guy's entire career. ... Read More
Am i the only one that can only see Bourne when looking at Matt Damon? I think the series was a bit too successful at creating a believable character and that he's effectively type-cast himself as Bourne for years to come. Plastering the Bourne credentials all over the poster doesn't help either. ... Read More
