Uma Thurman Stands On Ceremony

Uma Thurman has signed on to star in the comedy, Ceremony, which marks the directorial debut of prodigious whippersnapper, Max Winkler.

More on the Son Of Fonz later. Let’s talk about the movie first. It’ll star Michael Angarano – last seen being holding his own with Jet Li and Jackie Chan in The Forbidden Kingdom – as a young man who falls in love with Thurman’s older woman. That’s problem no. 1.

Problem no. 2 is that she’s about to get married, presumably in the Ceremony of the title. Which could complicate things a tad.

Sounds like a Graduate-style comedy to us – and if it’s half as good as The Graduate, then it’ll be twice as good as most of the comedies coming down the pike in the next 12 months.

And now to Winkler – as you might have guessed, he’s the son of Henry Winkler, and seems to have inherited his father’s innate sense of cool. He’s one of the brightest young talents in American comedy at the moment – he directed and produced those excellent Clark And Michael web shorts a couple of years back, and co-wrote, with Jonah Hill, the upcoming action comedy flick, The Adventurer’s Handbook. And – look away now if you don’t want to experience feelings of nausea and envy – he’s only 26.

Jason Reitman, a man who knows a thing or two about being the prodigious son of a comedy legend, will executive produce the movie, which will be financed by Nala Films.

Filming begins on October 21 on Long Island.
