Exclusive: New Dorian Gray Poster Creepy stuff for Oscar Wilde adaptation
As literary classics go, Oscar Wilde's story The Picture of Dorian Gray is scary, disturbing stuff. And appropriately, it looks from this poster like Oliver Parker's film version, Dorian Gray, is also going to creep us all out.
It's the story of the titular Dorian (Prince Caspian's Ben Barnes), a privileged and beautiful young man in Victorian England who wishes, as he gazes at his latest portrait, that the picture could age instead of him. Lo and behold, it does - but as Dorian becomes older and more corrupt, the portrait in the attic becomes a monster.
The film is out on September 9, also starring Colin Firth, Ben Chaplin, Rachel Hurd-Wood and Rebecca Hall. We can feel the shivers down on spines now.
...But am I the only person who has seen this poster and been aware of how cheap and shit it looks?! Not creepy, just a REALLY shoddy photoshop job. How long did it take, a couple of minutes while the artist was waiting for the toilet? Please, somebody agree so I can sleep at night... ... Read More
I have always liked Dorian Gray. I have seen several versions that were fair to middling. I didn't know this film was in production. The cast sounds quite good. Ben Barnes was excellent in Prince Caspian and Easy Virtue. Rebecca Hall is one of my favoirte up-and-coming actresses. She was fantastic in Starter For Ten and Vicky Christina Barcelona. Colin Firth is sexy as hell. He will always be Mr, Darcy (Pride and Prejudice 1995) to me. I will definitely see Dorian Gray. ... Read More
The poster looks great, really creepy (for some reason, it kinda reminds me of the last scene in Sleepy Hollow, when they're walking down the London street). I just hope its as good as it sounds, because its disapoitning when you're expecting a film to be awesome and it just doesn't come close to what you hoped for. Fingers crossed it'll be good! ... That poster is freaky, I thought Ben Barnes would be a little weak to be a proper character like Dorian Gray but here he looks really terrifying. My sister can't wait to see this and so am I, this will be intresting to see in the big screen I'm sure of it. ... Read More
Parker already has two adaptations of Wilde's plays (Ideal Husband and Ernest) so he should know what he is doing with these now. Here is hoping that it lives up to the trailer. Not sure about the artowrk on the poster though - little bit two-face from batman for my liking. ... Read More
