The story follows Sosuke, a young boy (voiced by the littlest Jonas brother, aka 'Bonus Jonas' Frankie ) as he befriends a pretty goldfish named Ponyo, who then turns into a girl (voiced by another pop-sibling, Noah "sister of Miley" Cyrus). This could only come from the mind of legendary animation director Hayao Miyazaki, and despite sounding a tad like The Little Mermaid's even littler sister, this promises to be an extravagant and epic fairytale which could only be executed by the Oscar-winning maker of Spirited Away.
The English language version of the film also features the stellar line-up of voices including Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Cloris Leachman, Liam Neeson, Lily Tomlin and Betty White.

*sigh* Ponyo is a really wonderful film, but the two US dub trailers sound like they've butchered it into a disneyfied aberration. Liam Neeson, though possessing a powerful and distinctive voice, is just not that character at all IMHO. I think you should check that release date there...apparently it's due out in 'early 2010' according to the article in your magazine, and not next week (as I write.) I'd just also like to ask Optimum what the hell their problem is with releasing this film. First it was April 2009, then August, and now it's pushed back to February?
