Howard Eclipses Rachelle Lefevre Bryce to star as Victoria in Twilight 3 Source: Variety
Usually, when Twilight fans start screaming, it’s because Robert Pattinson has waved an unruly follicle in their general direction, but today they’re screaming for another reason: namely, the news that Rachelle Lefevre, who plays evil vampire Victoria in the franchise, has had to bow out of the third Twilight movie, Eclipse.
But if those screams were tinged with despair, the news that Bryce Dallas Howard has been drafted in to replace Lefevre should alleviate that somewhat.
Howard is fast becoming Hollywood’s equivalent of Liverpool legend, David Fairclough, a ginger-haired supersub called upon to replace original selections. Just this summer, after all, she starred in Terminator Salvation as Kate Connor, a role first played by Claire Danes in Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines.
As Twihards know, Victoria’s role is significantly expanded in Eclipse, with the flame-haired vamp the sinister force behind an army of newly-created bloodsuckers, out to put the hurt on Pattinson’s Edward and Kristen Stewart’s Bella.
However, before any suggestions are made that Lefevre was replaced by studio bosses anxious about her ability to pull off a larger part (stop sniggering at the back!), it would seem that that old chestnut, the scheduling conflict, put paid to the 30 year-old’s Twilight tenure. Quite what the conflict was with, though, remains unclear at this time.
So, now Howard steps in, and we’re sure she’ll do a bang-up job. In fact, this could be her version of David Fairclough’s winner against St. Etienne in the 1977 European Cup quarter-finals.
Filming on Eclipse starts next month, with a release date of June 30, 2010 set in stone.
In response to a previous poster, I think you'll find it was Anna Kendrick (who plays Jessica) who may have misplaced the script.
There are several stories circulating as to why Lefevre was let go, but one suggests that she agreed the ten day project and then Summit moved filming dates of the new Twilight movie. It's hard to know which side to believe, but I'm inclined to back the actor rather than the studio (especially as this is not the first time someone was kicked off twilight for 'sche... Read More
Well, Bryce is a good choice. She's beautiful as hell, like woman-of-your dreams type. But, well, maybe the evidence she's replaced the current actress is this; I watched a US TV interview the other day, where a couple of months back, a woman who runs a hair salon in Louisiana found an official copy of The Twlight: New Moon script in the bin, and Rachelle Lefevre had visited said hair dressers there while she was filming her new movie with George Clooney in Louisiana. Her agent denied it but th... Read More
Empire you have been rumbled, while you should be talking all things film in the office you are in fact all football fans, arguing over not only who would assemble the best cast of film stars ever but also what a world 11 starting line-up would look like.....as a film and football fan I salute you.....and politely ask if you have any in office jobs that need filling as I think I would fit in like Van Basten up front! ... As above, ditto for Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning.... plus why is David Slade choosing to direct the third one, I know he's done Vampires before, but he is such a classy and clever director he should really be doing something more original... that said, the fact he's behind the third film gives me mild hope it might be half passable... and maybe nasty too ... Fuck no, Twatlight cannot take Bryce away from me! She is so much better than this crap, is it really so difficult to give this woman the parts she deserves instead of being a sloppy seconds for this slice of epic fail? ... Read More
