Doctor Who: Matt Smith In Costume It's the eleventh doctor and assistant!
OK, so it's TV, and we've already reported on one TV story today, but this too is a bit too interesting to ignore: it's the first shot of the new Doctor in costume as filming starts on the 2010 series of Doctor Who.
Newcomer Matt Smith is taking over from the much-loved David Tennant as the eleventh Doctor, Time Lord and defender of humanity against all comers. Karen Gillan joins him as awesomely-named sidekick Amy Pond, with Steven Moffat taking over series-producing duties after Russell T. Davies bowed out.
First impressions? For our money, Smith has huuuuge shoes to fill, but we're prepared to give him a chance. How about you?
i totally LOVE it. it's kind of nutty professor like which is great and i've always had a little thing for tweed jackets. i know, strange for a sixteen yr old but what can i say. The rolled up trousers and the bow tie just add to the whole nutty prof effect (yay!!!!) and i'm OBSESSED with any kind of boots. Nice work people, you've made one crazy fan happy ... Read More

People say that the Doctor can be any age they want him to be but that's entirely missing the point. I've no doubt Smith will be able to handle the wacky side of the Doctor but there's a... Read More
I especially like the way it's not trendy or youthful in the slightest, as if the Doctor, despite how he looks, is actually old and out-of-touch! Good juxtaposition there! (A word I've always wanted to use but never had a chance!) ... Read More
I too can't wait for Steven Moffat's take on the show. Doctor Who has always been a bit too patchy for me to ever fall head over heels with it. I've always loved the concept of the character, but the realisation of it misses the mark for me. I suppose I'd love to see a more adult version, with story arcs that are more complex and dangers that feel more real and suspenseful. I wish they could invoke the atmosphere of Quatermass 2 and Quatermass And The Pit, mixed in with the eerieness of the Pert... Read More
