DiCaprio's Low Dweller Finds A Director
And it's Rupert Sanders

DiCaprio's Low Dweller Finds A Director

Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Low Dweller, a dark thriller in the vein of No Country For Old Men, has been casting around for a director for a while now – and today it found one, in the shape of critically-acclaimed commercials director, Rupert Sanders.

Little is known about Sanders – he appears to be British (though we can’t say for sure; but we’re yet to meet an American Rupert), is a protégé of Tony Kaye, was apparently homeless in LA for a while according to this interview, and he’s been attached to the remake of The Wild Geese, apparently his favourite film, for the last two years.

But he’s also built up a stunning CV packed with visually imaginative commercials, including an X-Men Origins: Wolverine promo that caught the eye of DiCaprio and Ridley Scott, who are both producing the movie.

DiCaprio isn’t yet attached to star in The Low Dweller, about an ex-con who is haunted by a mysterious figure from his past, but we’d be surprised if he didn’t sign on to star at some point.

As for Sanders, The Low Dweller seems to be closer than The Wild Geese to the sort of material he’s tackled so far: dark, moody and complex. Brad Ingelsby’s script sparked a bidding frenzy when it went on the market last year – it was eventually sold to Relativity Media for a seven-figure sum. So hopes are high – this is one project we’re definitely going to keep an eye on.
