Green Hornet And Grown Ups On The Move

Sony is playing musical chairs with two of its big 2010 comedies.

Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen and Stephen Chow as a crime-fighting duo, is so high near the top of our must-see list that it’s not even funny (the movie itself, hopefully, will be) – but we’ll have to wait an extra two weeks to see it, as it’s moved from June 25 to July 9.

But Sony has moved quickly to fill the vacuum left by Rogen’s action comedy, by moving Grown Ups, otherwise known as the Happy Madison reunion movie, into that date from its original March 12 berth.

Clearly, Sony is very confident about the commercial appeal of the movie, which teams Sandler with his old chums Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, and Kevin James as old high school buddies enjoying a reunion. That’s high on our must-see list, too, but for entirely different reasons.

The change of release date puts Grown Ups in line for a dust-up with the third Twilight film, Twilight: The Eclipse. Somehow we suspect the audiences for the two movies won’t cross over that much – you don’t tend to hear a lot of high-pitched shrieking, sobbing and general insanity at a Rob Schneider movie. Unless our Damo’s in the audience, of course.

RE: Green Hornet And Grown Ups On The Move
Grown ups I think will be a lot of laughs. I got to be an extra when they shot in Essex, ma last month. it was a l-o-n-g day! it was Hot and I got over heated. It was fun watching how the film came together and the antics of the comics. Even the Sandler kids got to be in the film, not sure if they will make the final cut for the film tho'. Rob Schneider's hair is a character itself. I hope to be working more days on the film if I get the call. The movie business is far different from ... Read More

RE: Green Hornet And Grown Ups On The Move
The Green Hornet can't be done any other way than a comedy. iit is not really the right material for a Batman Begins style relaunch and the source material is camper than Julian Clary. Rogan has the comedy midas touch at the moment but not sure his speach patterns (I.E the slow, ultra deep, sounds like he is barley educated monotone voice) will suit the role he is taking on ... Read More

The Green Hornet will be ruined by that fat reject. It won't 'destroy childhoods', though I'm sure some will say it will, but it's certainly a very bad idea. ... Read More
