Watchmen Is Back - And Even Longer

Good news for our US readers. Well, good news for our US readers who live in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Minneapolis – for you’re about to become the first people in the world to see Zack Snyder’s Director’s Cut version of Watchmen. All three hours and change of it.

Although the movie is set to come out on DVD and Blu-ray on July 21, with an additional 25 minutes of footage restored to Snyder’s dense, visually stunning adaptation of Dave Gibbons and Alan Moore’s classic graphic novel, Warners is rolling it out in cinemas in those four cities for one week only, from Friday July 17.

It’s all part of the build-up to a giant BD-Live screening of the movie at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday July 25, at which the aim is for viewers in North America (boo!) to be able to watch the movie at the same time as people in San Diego Convention Centre, as well as take part in a post-screening Q&A with Snyder.

Of course, British Watchmen fans will have to wait until July 27 for the DVD/Blu-ray to come out, and the chance to see that extra footage, including the senseless murder of a character briefly featured in the original theatrical version. Americans, you may now begin gloating.

RE: RE:
I bought the director's cut from http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/ for £21. I  still don't understant why they haven't released it in the UK. I was impressed that it arrived at my door in the UK on the 21st July - same date it was due out in the States. Ghidorah - yes, unfortunately, when you put the digital copy it asks if you want it in iTunes of Windows Media Player. The WMV works fine, but iTunes won't accept it because we're not in the US or Canada. You can buy software to c... Read More

Apple refuse to allow me to transfer Friday the 13th to my itunes and the same going to happen to Watchmen DC. Is there anyway around it? my point of view is Warner bros makes their blu ray region free and that shoul... Read More

RE: save your cash
L: jono31 Or you could just download it for free. Piraters usually get a copy a couple of weeks before the release date. Download the Hi-Def AVCHD file and watch it on your ps3 for free. Saves the air fair and that way you will see it before the extended cut hits the cinemas. Ah, the world wide web, dont you just love it! 'm sure you meant to add that you would then purchase the DC dvd at christmas and weren't actually advocating illegal downloads on a public forum of a well respected m... Read More
