Exclusive: Feige On Marvel's Plans He talks Avengers, Thor and more...
Kevin Feige's the President of Production at Marvel Studios, aka the Guy Who Knows All about upcoming Marvel films like Thor and The Avengers. When we spoke to him recently, we asked about both.
“We will probably be having cast announcements in the next month or so on Thor," he told us. "We’re looking to cast Loki and Odin soon, and the main female role. And we’ll also hopefully have lockdown shortly, gearing towards the beginning of production, which will be early next year. So I think there will be a lot of announcements between now and then."
"But [director Kenneth] Branagh’s here, we’re prepping, and he’s put together some spectacular animatics already for our first action scene. We’re digging into the second and third now, and we are just embarking on a rewrite of the draft."
And The Avengers?
"Zak Penn is already on board The Avengers [as writer] and he’s spending a lot of his time looking into what we’re doing with Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, seeing how we’re tying it all together. And he’s beginning to outline the script now – he’ll be doing that over the summer."
"All of the Marvel movies leading up to The Avengers will be based in our new facility in Manhattan Beach, in LA. There will be location work that will take us out occasionally, but our home base will always be here. "
So that's the current state of play on the two Marvel-tastic properties. For more from Feige on Iron Man 2 and beyond, check out the next issue of Empire.

And then when Thor shows up on Earth in the Avenegrs, it will be all the more jarring that a Norse god is walking among the heroes. I think the audience will buy-in to the character more if the stand alone film is p... Read More

Absolutely - in fact I find myself watching that movie even more than "Iron Man." Just a perfect telling of the Hulk story.
I'd love to see the Hulk utilised in "The Avengers" - maybe as a pawn of the bad guys, a distraction for the team to take down while the real villainy (the Krulls? Loki?) goes undetected. As "The Ultimates" showed, a team vs. Hulk throw-down makes for a great action sequence.
And who could resist the line "Hulk smash Freddy Prinze Jr.!!!!"... ... Read More
