Exclusive: Kick-Ass Hit Girl 11 year-old super-assassin arrives
Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass is, we are assured, a different sort of superhero movie, one with actual injuries and some serious amounts of violence. And it's one we're looking forward to immensely, so we're delighted to bring you a first look at the movie's Hit Girl, aka Mindy.
Played by Chloe Moretz, Mindy's a pre-teen assassin who's been trained by her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) since the age of four. "Think Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman and Uma Thurman rolled into one. She's an 11 year-old and she's the ultimate assassin. She kills, I think, 20 people in a minute."
The film's out in late 2009. You ca see another image from the film and hear more from Vaughn in the new issue of Empire, out tomorrow. Did we mention it's particularly ace this month? Cause it totally is.

The issues in Leon were handled pretty well, IMo - completely different argument to a situation where that often in many animes male/female partnership generally seems to favour an oversized male and a female who looks and is the size of someone who is barely past puberty, if there, in sexual terms. ... It's been done before, i.e. Leon, and probably much better then too. Inappropriate really, a school girl in a uniform wielding a gun. Just what kind of message are film makers trying to send in this day and age? ... Read More
Why is it that people lin the western world get all hot and bothered about schoolgirls? OK, the eastern world (i.e. The Japanese) use schoolgirls to get all the guys interested in their movies or manga or anime as this is their market, for the guys. Kick Ass looks like it's gonna be a movie mainly for the guys and I'm sure the comic book is read primarily by guys. This is a good marketing technique, that's all! Don't get your panties in a twist! ... Read More
Dispite the fact he seems generally cool in interviews so presumably is a nice guy I have developed an irrational dislike (well maybe not based on his last 8 years worth of material) and have an overwhelming urge to punch him in the face! when I watch Raising Arizona or Leaving Las Vegas (or to a lesser extent guilty pleasure Con Air) it's almost as if I'm watching a different person. The man in those films is surely capable of at least one more decent effort and here's hoping this is it as some... Read More
